Course Objectives

• Prepare workstations, kitchen tools and equipment to be ready before the start of cooking

• Prepare food ingredients needed for cooking

• Follow the recipes and demonstrate cooking techniques for Singapore heritage food

• Store ingredients and finished products safely and reinstate workstations

Recipes

• Chicken Rice  (A renowned dish featuring tender chicken served with fragrant rice)

• Singapore Laksa (Spicy noodle soup made with flavourful coconut broth, filled with shrimps and fish cakes)

• Hokkien Mee (Sir-friend noodle dish with egg noodles, prawns, squid and vegetables)

• Lo Han Chai (Assortment of vegetables, tofu and noodles cooked in a flavourful sauce)

• Ah Balling Peanut Soup (Comforting dessert with sweet glutinous rice balls served in peanut soup)

Admission Criteria

• 18 years old and above

• Primary education level

• Workplace Literacy & Numeracy Level: At least Level 2 (listening/ speaking and reading/writing)

Course Fees & Funding

• The course fee is S$545 (incl 9% GST) per participant

• To help companies and individuals offset the cost of training, SSG provides funding for the course fee
  (eligible for Singaporeans, PRs or LTVP+ holders only) and absentee payroll:

  • INDIVIDUALS - Between 50-70% course fee (depending on age)

  • SME - Up to 70% course fee

  • NON-SME- Up to 50% course fee

Assessment

• Participants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment by SSG upon passing both the written examination and practical assessment administered by Ascendo Academy

Cancellation & Refund

• Full Refund will be made if the course is cancelled due to a lack of participants or unforeseen circumstances.

• Any cancellations made after closing date (14 days to course date) – No Refund

• Any cancellations made before closing date (14 days to course date) – Full Refund

• Ascendo Academy reserves the right to cancel, reschedule the course, amend course content if necessary
